Congratulation to Dr. Chen, Chien-Nan at the Dept. Molecular Biology and Biochemistry won the Excellent Thesis Prize of the 2^nd Tiende Lee Biomedical Foundation Award. His awarded thesis topic is “Neutrophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes exhibit diverse behaviors in transendothelial and subendothelial migrations under coculture with smooth muscle cells in disturbed flow.”.

The 95’alumni of the Dept. of Food Sciences, Huang, Zi-Nin, has passed the national qualified exam of Food Technical Personal.

Congratulations!! The soccer team of the Dept. Bioresources won the Bronze Medal in the National College soccer championship of the Biology majors held in the National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung.

The choir of the Dept. Molecular and Biochemistry won the third place prize with the chosen symphony “Take these wings” in the campus wide competition.

The Scholarship of the distinguished alumni, “Huang, Ying-Yuan”, has begun to apply until the May 31st, 2007. Students, who are eligible for the scholarship, please fill up the application form together with the required documents and hand them over the CLS office. Apologize for the inconvenience brought to those graduate students and teachers who are going to poster presenting in the coming 2007 Annual Biomedical Conference. The college poster printer was out of order. The printer will be no longer serving us due to lack of replace parts to fix the outdated model as the manufacture technician replied. CLS office will not assist any poster making until further notice on purchasing a new machine. Thank you.

The Program of Biotechnology Training Courses is alternative offered every three years by CLS and the College of Agriculture. All academic affairs regarding to the training courses have been transferred to Dr. Chen, Pon-Wen, Graduate Institute of Agriculture Biotechnology, College of Agriculture, since the 2006 fall semester.

Shih, Jia-Yi, Graduate student of the Dept. Biological Sources under Dr. Chung, Kuo-Jen supervising. She has won the champion prize of the poster presenting in the 2006 Annual Meeting of Fisheries Society of Taiwan with the research title “The time changes the Neritidae distribution at sea shore of the Heng-Chun peninsula”.

Congratulation to Dr. Chang, Ching-An. He is adjunct professor of Dept. Biological Resources who have met the criteria as Professorship by the Ministry of Education.

Congratulation to Dr. Pan, Fu-Ming who is in the Dept. Molecular Biology and Biochemistry & Graduate Institute of Biotechnology. He was promoted to assistant professor by the Ministry of Education.

Five new databases were newly established to provide convenient accessing news, articles, journals and books announced by the library.

National Science Council awarded the best invention prize to the student Young, Tin-Tin and the excellence of supervising prize to her advisor, Dr. Su, Jyan-Gwo. Their awarded research title was “The induction of apoptosis or necrosis by fluoranthene and chrysene”.

Congratulation! Dr. Chen, Suei-Mei of the Dept. of Aquatic Bioscience was promoted to Associate Professor by the Ministry of Education.

Another History was written by the Soccer team of the Dept. of Biological resources. This was the consecutive soccer game championship since 2005 in the southern Taiwan Life Science Soccer Bowl Game. Congratulation!

The 2006 annual Life Sciences Chorus Competition has been held successfully on the Dec. 20th.

Sweet dream come true offered by the Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education has setup a website named “Sweet dream come true scholarship” to help those students from financial difficult family. In the website, students can apply financial supports in various categories including study financial support, emergency support, tuition fee deduction, overseas study scholarship, and word-study program etc. Students need the financial support in their academic trails, please check on the website or consulting the school administration officials.
